The traditional home made food is rich in its quality because of the products taken to make it.

One of this typical product is the Txakoli. It is a special white wine made with a particular grape from the area. Laudio, Amurrio, Okondo, Ayala and Artziniega are exclusively integrated in the Guarantee of Origin of Álava, whereas Orduña participates in the Guarantee of Origin of Vizcaya.

Moreover, a Txakoli vinegar, is elaborated in Orduña, an excellent seasoning for a wide range of gastronomic recipes.

Our cheese is another typical product of the area, some of the producers have their cheese under the name of Idiazabal, which means that its is a cheese made with milk from a type of sheep named “latxa”.

There are also other hand made products of quality in the region such as, honey, bread, “chorizo” or black pudding. There is the possibility to taste or buy them in any of the markets several towns of Aiaraldea hold every week.

Finally, we should mention the great boost for the ecological agriculture and ecological cattle farming as it is shown every first Saturday in the Foru Plaza of Orduña, where jams, snails, fruits, vegetables, cheese, meet, etc are sold, being all this ecological products.
